I get "http://unblock.secureserver.net/?ip=xx.xx.xx.xx" in a bounce message. What does this mean?
Article This is a strange one! The website secureserver.net reveals nothing; not even who they are. However, after much investigation, it appears that unblock.secureserver.net is a private GoDaddy service for their own internal use. It is not a public blacklist. Further probing reveals that they are making up their own rules for email servers. On their
"unblock" page it states one of the ways to get off their list is to "Verify that your rDNS contains a name that includes 'mail', 'SMTP', 'relay', or 'MX'. For example: mail.example.com, smtp.example.com, or mx1.example.com." This does not comply with any existing RFC standards and is quite arbitrary. As well, those ISPs who have actually received a reply back to their messages and have attempted to comply with this policy still remain blocked without justification.

The bottom line is that unblock.secureserver.net is a poorly managed GoDaddy service and should be avoided. GoDaddy is blocking many legitimate messages with this policy.

If you absolutely must sent an email to someone using the secureserver.net mail server, then you might try using your local ISP's outgoing mail server instead of ours. Through our research on this issue we discovered a post stating that Godaddy has whitelisted some major ISPs (which makes no sense if they're trying to reduce Spam, but we digress), so this may solve the problem if your ISP is "big enough". This cannot be verified though, so you may only get the same bounce message for a different IP address.
